About this compound

Mechanism and research context.

MOTS-C (Mitochondrial Open Reading Frame of the Twelve S rRNA type-C) is a 16-amino-acid mitochondrial-derived peptide encoded by the mitochondrial 12S rRNA gene. It is one of the first peptides discovered to be encoded by the mitochondrial genome rather than the nuclear genome, and represents a class of compounds known as mitochondrial-derived peptides (MDPs).

In research models, MOTS-C has been investigated as an exercise-mimetic and metabolic regulator. Published studies have examined its effects on insulin sensitivity, glucose homeostasis, fatty acid oxidation, and mitochondrial function in skeletal muscle and adipose tissue. Plasma MOTS-C levels have been observed to decline with age and to increase in response to exercise stimuli.

The compound is an active area of research in metabolic and longevity contexts, given its position at the interface of mitochondrial biology and whole-organism energy regulation.

How this batch was verified

Verified in Canada before listing.

01

Vetted manufacturing source.

Compounds sourced only from manufacturers who have been through extensive evaluation and vetting in our sourcing and procurement program.

02

Canadian lab verification — before shipping.

Every batch is independently tested at a Canadian laboratory before it lists. Verified in-country with full chain of custody — not sent overseas. The report we publish is from an independent Canadian lab, not the manufacturer or a third party lab outside of Canada.

Reconstitution guidance

Four steps. Standard across compounds.

01

Draw bacteriostatic water.

Use a reconstitution syringe to draw BAC water (bacteriostatic water, 0.9% benzyl alcohol).

02

Add slowly to the lyophilized vial.

Inject the water against the inside of the vial wall — do not shake.

03

Swirl until fully dissolved.

Gentle agitation only. The lyophilized cake should fully dissolve within a minute.

04

Refrigerate.

Reconstituted solution is typically stable for 28 days refrigerated.
