About this compound

Mechanism and research context.

SS-31 (also known as Elamipretide or MTP-131) is a synthetic tetrapeptide that selectively binds cardiolipin — a phospholipid located on the inner mitochondrial membrane. By stabilizing cardiolipin and the electron transport chain proteins it organizes, SS-31 has been investigated for its role in preserving mitochondrial function under conditions of oxidative stress.

In published clinical and preclinical research, SS-31 has been examined for effects on mitochondrial bioenergetics, reactive oxygen species generation, and tissue function in models of ischemia-reperfusion injury, heart failure, primary mitochondrial myopathies, and age-related mitochondrial dysfunction. It is one of the more clinically advanced mitochondrially-targeted research peptides.

The compound is a focus of ongoing research in cardiology, ophthalmology, and aging biology — particularly in contexts where mitochondrial cardiolipin remodelling appears to play a causal role in disease progression.

How this batch was verified

Verified in Canada before listing.

01

Vetted manufacturing source.

Compounds sourced only from manufacturers who have been through extensive evaluation and vetting in our sourcing and procurement program.

02

Canadian lab verification — before shipping.

Every batch is independently tested at a Canadian laboratory before it lists. Verified in-country with full chain of custody — not sent overseas. The report we publish is from an independent Canadian lab, not the manufacturer or a third party lab outside of Canada.

Reconstitution guidance

Four steps. Standard across compounds.

01

Draw bacteriostatic water.

Use a reconstitution syringe to draw BAC water (bacteriostatic water, 0.9% benzyl alcohol).

02

Add slowly to the lyophilized vial.

Inject the water against the inside of the vial wall — do not shake.

03

Swirl until fully dissolved.

Gentle agitation only. The lyophilized cake should fully dissolve within a minute.

04

Refrigerate.

Reconstituted solution is typically stable for 28 days refrigerated.
